Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule  (11 April 1827 - 18 November 1890), also known as Jyotiba Phule, is an Indian social activist, thinker, anti-caste social reformer and writer from Maharashtra Were . Her work extended to many areas including untouchability and the abolition of the caste system, and the emancipation of women. She is mostly known for her efforts to educate women and lower caste people. He and his wife, Savitribai Phule, were pioneers of women's education in India. Phule started her first school for girls in 1848 in Pune at Tatyasaheb Bhide's residence or Bhidewara.



 On September 24, 1873, he, along with his followers, formed the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society of Truths of Truth) to obtain equal rights for the people of the lower castes. People of all religions and castes can become part of this association, who worked for the upliftment of the exploited classes. Phule is considered an important figure in the social reform movement.


 She supported widow remarriage and started a home in 1863 for high-caste pregnant widows to give birth in a safe and secure place.His orphanage was established in an attempt to reduce the rate of infanticide.Phule tried to end the stigma of social untouchability surrounding the lower castes by opening his home and using his water well for members of the lower castes.

        On 24 September 1873, Phule formed the Satyashodhak Samaj to focus on the rights of indifferent groups such as women, Shudras and Dalits.Through this samadhi, he opposed idolatry and condemned the caste system. The Satyashodhak Samaj campaigned for the spread of rational thinking and rejected the need for priests.



           Phule established the Satyashodhak Samaj with the ideals of human welfare, happiness, unity, equality and easy religious principles and rituals.A Pune-based newspaper, Deenbandhu, gave voice to the views of the society.

            The membership of the Sama consisted of Muslims, Brahmins and government officials. Phule's own Mali caste provided prominent members and financial backers of the organization.
